There are many different ways to support Friendship Children's Center.

Classroom Field Trips
If you Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend field trips with their children's class. FCC Students go on countless field trips to fun and exciting places in the DC metro area throughout the year are the parent of a child who is enrolled at Friendship Children's Center, one way in which you can get involved is by joining your child's class on field trips to local sites.

Special Events

  • Back to School Night & Annual Parent Meeting
    (usually the second Wednesday in September)
    6:00 p.m.
    Meet your child's teacher, spend some time with the other parents in your child's classroom, and attend our Annual Parent Meeting as we begin the new school year.
  • Fall Fix-Up
    Parents volunteer a block of time on one Saturday in October to spruce up their child's classroom.  Volunteers will wipe down chairs, cots, and furniture, clean toys, and wash windows.  If a parent is unable to attend they may donate cleaning supplies or drinks/snacks.
  • Halloween Party
    (usually the Friday closest to Halloween Eve)
    5:30 p.m.
    Dressed in costumes, we'll play games, eat treats with our families, and participate in our very own parade around the block.
  • Holiday Party
    (usually the first Friday in December)
    5:00 p.m.
    Join us for a bit of holiday cheer as the children sing their favorite seasonal tunes and we welcome this wonderful time of year with cookies, light appetizers, and refreshments. Early Years and Learning Years: (April 10- April 16, 2011) 
  • A week-long celebration honoring the role we all play - at home, at school, and in the community - in building better futures for our children. Typical activities include a community service project, super student day, staff appreciation day, volunteer thank you, and parent teacher conferences.
  • Spring Clean-Up
    (usually the last weekend in April)

  • Parents Day
    (usually mid May)
  • Dance Recital & Preschool Graduation
    (end of July, early August)
    5:00 p.m.
    At the conclusion of our annual 10-week summer dance session, the children entertain their parents with a sampling of what they've learned from our professional dance instructor over the summer. This also marks the time of year when we say good-bye to our graduating class as they head off to local elementary schools
  • Volunteer Programs
    The Board of Directors asks all parents to pledge a certain level of involvement in school activities.  There are many venues in which you can get involved, including participation in our  Classroom activities, Annual Spring Clean Up Day, Fall Fix Up, and Community Zoo Day. There is also room for you to make monetary and supply donations if you cannot join in these events. The school coordinates volunteer activities through the Parent Teacher Partnership, if you are interested in joining the PTP as a Room Parent or a Chair please email office@friendshipchildren.org

     Item Donations
     Support your child's class by donating supplies for a classroom activity or project. For a list your current classes needs please contact your Room Parent or Lead Teacher.

    Help us stock our shelves with necessary consumable supplies. Attached is a list of the monthly consumable supply request.
